Mr. Nibley is a nationally recognized expert in government contracting matters and has extensive experience representing major companies in dealings with Federal and state agencies, both defense and civilian, and in international arbitrations.

Mr. Nibley's new position at Thelen marks his return to the practice of law in Washington , D.C. , after teaching and coaching for two years at The Landon School in Bethesda , Md. – which three of his four sons currently attend. “We are delighted that Stu chose Thelen as the place where he wants to resume his law practice, and he will significantly enhance both our government contracts and international arbitration practices,” said Andrew Ness, the managing partner of Thelen's Washington , D.C. office. “Stu is very highly regarded in the government contracts bar for his expertise and work ethic. It's a unique story, and Stu is a great catch for Thelen.”

“I found my teaching and coaching experience to be as rewarding as I had hoped it would be,” said Mr. Nibley. “And now I am very excited about returning to the practice of law, particularly with this extraordinary opportunity at Thelen. I have long admired Thelen's superior reputation in the legal market and depth of expertise in dealing with complex contractual disputes worldwide.”

As chair of the government contracts practice at his former firm, Mr. Nibley served as lead counsel in hundreds of high-profile disputes, including high-stakes bid protests on major Government procurements, and a wide variety of Government contract litigation and international arbitration matters.

From 1997 through 2001, Mr. Nibley led a large team of attorneys from both Seyfarth Shaw and Norton Rose, a major London-based firm, in successfully representing one of the world's largest defense contractors in a high dollar dispute relating to a European defense program, arbitrated in London in accordance with the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Nibley has been active in a number of professional associations over the past two decades. He served as a member of the Procurement Planning Committee and past Chair of the Legal Subcommittee of the National Security (Defense) Industrial Association.
