With over 150 attorneys, Thelen's New York office is the largest in the firm and ranks among the largest New York offices of national law firms.

The New York office is the center of three of Thelen's premier practice areas-Real Estate and Real Estate Finance; Energy Finance; and Technology and Sourcing. A principal focus of the New York office is finance and capital markets transactions, including real estate finance, with over 100 lawyers engaged in a variety of transactional, capital markets, and structured finance work for large investment banking and other corporate clients. Another major focal point of the New York office is the energy industry, including project finance, utility restructuring, and international transactions. Attorneys in the New York office are also regularly called upon to address legal issues associated with the application of technology to new and existing business ventures.

Other key practice areas of the firm also have major presences in the New York office. A large segment of Thelen's more than 150-attorney Commercial Litigation practice, in addition to lead partners in the firm's national Construction, Labor and Employment, Bankruptcy, and Tax practices, are headquartered in the New York office.

Thelen and its predecessor firms in New York have a long history of serving the New York market. The firm's construction practice is actively involved with the ongoing World Trade Center reconstruction efforts in the wake of 9/11. The firm has also been a constant presence on Wall Street for decades, serving some of the country's leading investment banks and energy and utility companies. In addition, its technology lawyers have assisted numerous New York-based hospitals with acquiring patient and laboratory information systems. Firm attorneys also laid the legal groundwork for the installation of the New York City subway fare card system.
